1. themustacheridesagain asked: What got you into photography?

I would have to give the credit to my cousin Anjelica. I guess ever since I was young, I’ve always looked up to her. When I was in seventh grade, she visited me and my family here in NJ/NYC from LA. She had a camera and it just looked so damn cool. She also introduced me to awesome music back then such as Metric, Le Tigre, Tegan and Sara. I just always thought she was the coolest girl ever and she inspired me to pick up my first digital point and shoot when I was in 7th grade. I used that to take photos for my ~*xanga*~ and everything around me. My mom used to always take photos of me and my siblings too. Looking back at photos of us as kids made me realize that I can do the same thing with my own life - to capture moments.

  2. Anonymous asked: are you currently happy with how you have been living life?

Okay, let me drink some more wine for this.

Not trying to make this too long, but my answer is: yes. When I look back to three years ago, I was a wreckless, stubborn, angry girl. I was far from happy, but I knew that one day, it would all pass. But I had to work for it. I kept myself busy with internships, school, and jobs. Eventually I learned to surround myself with like-minded people and from there, I learned a lot about myself. But it’s not until you hit rock bottom that you learn to live life to the fullest. I’m grateful for each day, all the opportunities that have presented themselves, and for the supportive people around me. Plus, family is everything and is my number one motivation to get me to where I am now. For the first time in my life, I can truly say that I am happy. I will always be a work in progress, but I’ve learned to deal with certain things and not let them get to me.

  4. I was by myself for a pretty long time. I needed to do that. I think everyone that I know has wanted to do that or needed to do that at some point. I think when you spend enough time when it’s quiet around you and you don’t open your mouth for three or four days, there’s parts of your brain that can kind of rest. I think when we’re out in the world and we have to talk to people, we edit ourselves. You know, we have to like, act a little bit. As honest as we may be as humans, when we’re out here, we’re all kind of wearing mirrors on our faces. You know, constantly reacting to how to react to the people around you. And I think when you’re alone for a long enough time, you can feel a lot more peace.

As a kid and during my zero money college period, I turned to Pop-tarts a lot. There are 400 calories in a single packet. 400 calories is okay for breakfast but these calories were coming from fat, carbs and sugar. They contain little protein, fiber or other important nutrients. I decided to…
